Symbolisation of AUM
·
The symbol of AUM exists as a conventionally
recognizable agreed characteristic sign as a representation of a divine entity
of Sanatan Dharma.
·
Symbol Aum is an image that a devotee
unconsciously uses to represent divine thoughts, feelings, or instincts.
·
The caveman "symbolized" his
metaphysical human Mind Life "ideas" using "symbolization of
drawing pictures. The Egyptians "symbolized" metaphysical thought by
using hieroglyphics. The Chinese use physically conventioneers agree upon
"symbols" in logical order to "symbolize" "physically
communicate" their metaphysical thought ideas.
·
The five curves represent the
Panchamahabhutas — which are the properties of the earth (pritvi), water (jala),
fire (tejas), wind (vayu), and space (akasha).
·
And in
Jainism, it's often used in reference to Pañca-Parameṣṭhi, or the five supreme
beings of the ancient Indian religion.
·
As far
as the physical symbol of Om, its various curves and lines represent five
states of consciousness:
·
Om is now part of the Buddhist faith but
originated in the Hindu faith. Om is described as a representation of the holy
trinity of Hindu gods – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, and in the Upanishads (an
ancient Hindu text) as the essence of Brahman (the ultimate reality).
·
The AUM symbol initiates the number 3 and the
sound AUM is tri-syllabic which is in harmony with 3 in Sanatan Dharma.
· Therefore, we should not be surprised that Shiva, with his third eye and the power of number three, is present on the premises of CERN, the European laboratory for particle physics located in Switzerland, in the form of a statue two meters high. And, as the plaque at the base of the statue explains, the god Shiva dances to give life to the universe and then exterminates it.
